DEBORAH MIZEUR

In 2008, Deborah Mizeur founded The Mizeur Group, a seasoned team of advisors who counsel clients about federal legislation and health care policy.

From 2003 to 2008, Ms. Mizeur was professional staff to the House Ways and Means Committee. In that capacity, she was principal staff for a portfolio of health issues ranging from health tax and coverage expansion, to health quality, information technology, and Part B Medicare reimbursement. While at the Committee, Deborah was lead staff on the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (PL 110-343), the Wellstone Mental Health Parity Act, the reauthorization of the Trade Adjustment Assistance, and the Children’s Health and Medicare Protection (CHAMP) Act.

Prior to joining the Committee, Deborah Mizeur was a senior policy analyst for the nation’s largest non-profit heath care system, Ascension Health, and established their Washington, DC office.

Deborah served as a senior legislative assistant for Senator John D. Rockefeller IV (DWV) from 1999-2000. Ms. Mizeur came to Washington, D.C. in 1998 as a prestigious David A. Winston Health Policy Fellow. After completing the three-month orientation period, she accepted an offer to work with the Committee on Ways and Means where she staffed the Bi-Partisan Commission on the future of Medicare.

A graduate of the University of Washington with a Master of Health Administration degree, Deborah Mizeur obtained a B.A. in government from the University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau. While completing her undergraduate degree, she worked as a legislative assistant for a member of the Alaska Legislature and as the Assistant Sergeant At Arms for both the House of Representatives and Senate.

In addition to her work at the firm, Deborah Mizeur is an adjunct professor of health politics and financing at Georgetown University where she has taught since 2002.

Deborah also has spent much of 2008 travelling the country on the health policy speaker’s circuit as a representative for the Obama for America campaign.

Ms. Mizeur is President of the Board of Directors for World Arts Focus in Mt. Rainier Maryland and Secretary for the Board of Directors for Equality Maryland.
